Position Title: Purchasing Manager


Position Description

GC&E Systems Group seeks an experienced Purchasing Manager for its corporate office located in Norcross, GA. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple product lines, search for favorable pricing and find more profitable suppliers. The Purchasing Manager has direct oversight of the Purchasing Coordinator(s) and Warehouse. This is a hands-on position issuing purchasing orders, following up with suppliers and overseeing the warehouse. Responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Placing purchase orders and following up on required deliveries.
  • Work with management to identify cost negotiation and pricing opportunities for margin improvement.
  • Evaluate price trends, new product launches, and product availability for cost improvement.
  • Manage suppliers to negotiate and resolve performance issues having an impact on costs, customer service or inventory.
  • Work and communicate with new and existing suppliers to help reduce costs and add value.
  • Interact with sales and company customers to understand forecasted demand and how it will impact supply and distribution planning.
  • Purchasing Manager will work hand in hand with Project Managers to schedule delivery of products at job sites; and will proactively monitor ship and release schedules for multiple projects.
  • Resolving errors on purchase orders as required.
  • Monitoring price increases/decreases and communicating changes as necessary.
  • Assist with solving technical challenges as they arise.  Help to resolve potential problems before they can have a negative impact on the customer and the company.
  • Track vendor rebate programs.
  • Resolving RMA/CM issues.
  • Assist in the coordination of annual physical inventory.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection and training of personnel.


Requirements:

  • Applicants must have 5+ years’ experience as a Purchasing Manager or Buyer.
  • Knowledge of common purchasing and inventory concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to demonstrate teamwork, leadership and flexibility while working with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Candidate must have good computer skills in MS Excel and Word and Outlook.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how purchasing impacts the accounting and job cost records on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, and find solutions.
  • Analytical mindset and superior organizational skills preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs overhead.
  • Ability to unload a pallet from a truck when required.
  • Must have good driving record; pass pre-employment background and drug screen.


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Previous experience with Sage ERP MAS 100 a plus.
  • Previous buying experience of IT, Electronic Security or Structured Cabling equipment is a plus.

 

Location: Norcross, Georgia

  

Base Salary: $ 70K
